Revision support for academy cadets preparing for the Texas licensing exam
This page is for academy instructors and coordinators who want to know what Texas Peace Officer Prep contains before they mention it to a class.
What the product holds
Texas Peace Officer Prep covers 44 topics, with 528 revision cards and 830 scenario questions. Each scenario question names an officer, gives four options and explains why each wrong option is wrong. There are also mock papers and a readiness figure against the 70 percent pass mark.
Where the content comes from
Every card and question is written from public Texas statutes, the Texas Administrative Code, the United States Supreme Court decisions that govern search, seizure and interrogation, and the free basic peace officer course curriculum that the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement publishes. Each item is cited by section or case. Nothing is copied from a commercial study guide or from any academy's material.
How a cadet can use it beside the course
A cadet can read the guide for the topic the class has just covered, work through its revision cards, and then answer the scenario questions to check that they can apply the law to a situation. The study plan lists every topic by area, and it sets out the published rules on the pass mark, the three attempts and the 180-day limit.
Free access and price
Four topics are free in full, and the free topics page lists them. The free practice questions need no account and no card details. Access to all 44 topics costs $19 a month, and the buy page has the details.
Independence
Texas Peace Officer Prep is an independent study aid. It is not endorsed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement or by any academy, and it does not reproduce the licensing exam.
