What this is
A study workspace for the licensing examination every Texas peace officer has to pass, the one the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement runs under Occupations Code section 1701.304.
It is a web app. Open it in a browser, add it to your home screen, and it behaves like an app on your phone: offline, full screen, no app store. Nothing to install and nothing to update.
Inside each topic you get:
- a short overview of what the law actually says
- key points written in plain language, section by section
- revision cards that ask you one thing at a time
- exam-style scenario questions with a named officer, four options, and an explanation of why each wrong answer is wrong, not just which one was right
- weighted mock papers and a readiness figure against the 70 percent pass mark. The commission publishes no blueprint, so the weighting and the mock length are our own estimate
What you get free
Four complete topics, not previews of topics:
- Arrest without a warrant: Chapter 14 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, article by article
- Search warrants and warrantless searches: Chapter 18, plus the article 38.23 exclusionary rule
- Use of force and deadly force: Penal Code Chapter 9, including section 9.51
- Assaultive offenses: Penal Code Chapter 22 and the section 1.07 definitions
That is 48 cards and 76 questions, free, with no card details and no trial that hides its price.

Where the content comes from
Every card and every question is written from public Texas law: the Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Occupations, Transportation, Family, Health and Safety, Government and Alcoholic Beverage Codes, the Texas Administrative Code, and the United States Supreme Court decisions that govern search, seizure and interrogation. Each item is cited by section or case, so you can go and read the source yourself. Nothing is copied from a commercial study guide or from any academy's material.
Not affiliated with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, with any training academy, or with any law enforcement agency. This is an independent study aid. It is not endorsed by anyone, and it does not reproduce the examination.
Law changes. Check the current text of any provision, and check the current course with your academy, before you rely on anything here.
Questions
Is this the real exam?
No. Nobody outside the commission has the real questions, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something they should not have. These are original questions written from the same law the exam is based on.
How many questions are in the real exam, and how long do I get?
The commission does not publish either figure, so this product does not claim to know. What is published: the pass mark is 70 percent, you get three attempts, and all three must be completed within 180 days of finishing your licensing course.
What happens if I fail?
Three attempts, all within 180 days of completing the course. Fail all three, or run out of time, and you have to repeat the basic licensing course.
Will this get me through?
No study aid can promise that, and this one does not. It gives you the law, in order, with questions that make you apply it.
