Texas statutes
Every statute below is published by the Texas Legislature Online, maintained by the Texas Legislative Council. No copyright notice and no restriction on reuse of the statute text appears anywhere on that site. Under the government-edicts doctrine confirmed by the US Supreme Court in Georgia v. Public.Resource.Org, Inc. (2020), the text of state law is not subject to copyright, whoever publishes it. This product authors its own explanations and questions from the substance of these sections; it does not copy statute wording, except for short fragments where the exact words carry the legal test. On several dates in September 2026 the official statute host returned only its own site index for the specific sections needed, so the sections were read on public mirrors (Public.Law, Cornell Legal Information Institute, and FindLaw) purely to find out what the law says; no wording from those mirrors' own editorial material is reused, and the Texas section is always the citation of record.
